The Role of Natural Language Processing in Building Intelligent Conversational Interfaces for Education, Healthcare, and Beyond

Abstract

Natural language processing (NLP) has emerged as a key enabling technology for building intelligent conversational interfaces that can understand and respond to human language in a natural and intuitive way. These interfaces, such as chatbots and virtual assistants, have the potential to revolutionize various domains, including education and healthcare, by providing personalized and accessible support to users. This research paper explores the role of NLP in building intelligent conversational interfaces and discusses the challenges and opportunities associated with their development and deployment. We review the state-of-the-art NLP techniques used in building these interfaces, including dialogue management, intent recognition, and named entity recognition, and compare their strengths and weaknesses in different application contexts. We also propose a framework for evaluating the effectiveness and usability of conversational interfaces, taking into account factors such as task completion, user satisfaction, and language understanding.
